Join us for our weekly long run 8:00 am Saturday, October 3 from the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park.
Given the Spare the Air warning from the smoke, we are going to try a run through the Park, to let the trees help filter the air. JFK Drive is now closed to vehicular traffic on Saturdays, so we will meet in front of the Botanical Garden, just inside the Park from the 9th and Lincoln entrance. There should be plenty of parking along the streets nearby at 8:00 am.
We’ll gauge the length of our run based on air quality and interest in distance. I have found that staying within the park has helped greatly with air quality on bad air days, the trees serving as a natural filter and screen against the smoke.
Hope to see you out with us tomorrow morning!
We will continue our assault on the Crosstown Trail when the air clears. We had a spectacular day last Saturday, tackling the first 1/3 of the course, doing an out-and-back run from Glen Park to Candlestick Point. Part 2 will take us from Glen Park to Golden Gate Park, over the spine of the City, up Glen Canyon, then Golden Gate Heights to the Inner Sunset and back. Part 3 will take us from 19th and Lincoln through the Park to China Beach, Lands End and the Trail finish at the Cliff House.
