Race cancellation update and social distancing

Hope all is well with all our friends and family in this unusual global environment.

San Francisco and the counties around the Bay Area have issued a shelter in place order, effective until April 7. We are cancelling all group runs until this order ends.

This order upends all our lives, but we must cooperate in order to flatten the curve and hopefully return to our lives sooner rather than later. The economic impact is substantial and variable, with those least likely to have the resources to survive short term hardship the most likely to be impacted.

For those who planned to join us running the Windsor Half Marathon, the race has been cancelled. Like many races, the Windsor Half has a charity partner, who depends on the race revenues to provide their services. I have instructed the Windsor organizers to direct any refund to the charity partner rather than return it to me, and I ask that you consider doing something similar, if you have ability to do so. These times will try our community, and we have to look out for each other.

We believe regular exercise will help keep us all sane and healthy as we endure measures to contain the coronavirus.

I wish everyone good health. Keep running, be safe, wash your hands, and be kind to your community. We will survive, I have great confidence, but we can make it easier on ourselves by being thoughtful, kind and considerate.
